Colours of Montenegro - Vladimir Tatarevic.jpg

Montenegro is a land of contrasts and natural beauty - making a fascinating combination in which the exquisite and the monumental intertwine, just like in childhood memories in which reality seems to shine with living colours. Three colours dominate the Montenegrin landscape: blue, emerald green and iron grey, amazingly combined and interwoven.

Looking at this land from the sea seems to evoke the philosopher Kant's words: "Tragedy unleashes the sense of the sublime." That is the feeling one has looking at Lovcen's peaks from the Medieval town of Kotor. It seems that going from the island of Sveti Stefan to the peaks of Durmitor and to Crno Jezero (Black Lake) is like walking through eternity: two beauties fused into one. It is no wonder that many famous European botanists and geographers disregarded their exploratory missions and became passionate travel writers while visiting Montenegro.

If you decide to learn more about this small but fabulous destination, we have gathered some hopefully useful general information about the country's history, climate, geography, customs, and gastronomy.
